Where Vision Meets Craft: The Story Behind Namunyak

Some stories begin with a business plan. Namunyak began with a connection.

For founder Michelle Giblin, the vision for Namunyak grew from a journey to Nairobi, Kenya, and the women she encountered there. After meeting Maireen Kaderi of the Rehema Foundation in Florida, Michelle accepted an invitation to travel to Nairobi. That journey would introduce her to a community of skilled women artisans whose craftsmanship, creativity, and dedication left a lasting impression.

In Kariobangi, Michelle saw more than beautiful handmade pieces. She saw artistry.

She met women whose hands carried generations of knowledge. Women who weave, bead, shape, and create with extraordinary attention to detail. Their work was not simply something Michelle wanted to bring home. It became part of a much larger vision.

That vision became Namunyak.

A Vision Brought to Life by Skilled Hands

Namunyak was created around a simple belief: the things we bring into our homes can be both beautiful and meaningful.

Michelle envisioned an artisan home and lifestyle collection where timeless design could meet authentic craftsmanship. The women artisans bring that vision to life through their individual skills, traditions, and artistry.

From handwoven baskets to beaded pieces and carefully crafted home accents, each creation carries evidence of the hands that made it.

There is beauty in the texture.

There is intention in the details.

And there is a story behind every piece.

The Women Behind the Collection

Namunyak works with artisan communities including Have Hope Women, Miujiza, and Street Hope Women.

Each collective brings its own craftsmanship and perspective to the collection. Together, their work represents something central to Namunyak: preserving the beauty of handmade artistry while creating pieces that belong naturally in the modern home.

These women are not simply part of the story behind Namunyak.

They are the artists behind the work.

Their skill deserves to be seen, valued, and celebrated for what it is: exceptional craftsmanship.

More Than Something Beautiful

Namunyak is for the person who wants to know the story behind what they bring into their home.

A basket can hold more than blankets.

A piece of jewelry can carry more than beauty.

A handmade object can connect a home thousands of miles away with the hands and traditions of the person who created it.

That is what makes Namunyak different.

Michelle brought the vision. The artisans bring their craft. Together, they are creating a collection where beauty, story, and purpose meet.
