Kito Woven Placemat
Details
Materials
Hand-spun natural sisal fiber with hand-dyed black detailing.
Description
A quiet showpiece for your everyday table setting, the Kito Placemat radiates outward in concentric rings of ivory and
black, hand-coiled from the center out by artisans in Kariobangi, Nairobi. Woven from the fibers of the agave sisalana
plant, the spiraling pattern grows organically with the weave rather than being stamped or printed on -a small daily
reminder of the hands that made it.
Set beneath a dinner plate for texture and contrast or let it stand alone as an accent on an open shelf or console. Its dense,
tightly packed weave gives it structure and durability well beyond what its delicate pattern suggests.
As each piece is entirely handmade, subtle variations in pattern spacing and tone are part of its story -no two are exactly
alike.
Dimensions: not yet confirmed -add diameter once measured.
Caring for Your Placemat
• Wipe clean with a lightly damp cloth as needed -spot clean rather than submerge.
• If it becomes bent or creased in shipping, lightly mist with cool water, let the fibers soften for a few minutes, then
gently press it flat.
• Air dry completely on a flat, protected surface before returning it to use.
